Health Break - Corporate Wellness Programs

The difference between companies who have higher retention rates and profit margins and companies who experience the negative impact of work related stress is that the most successful companies invest in the health and wellness of their employees. Those negative stressors may manifest in a lack of productivity and focus, which then leads to a loss of finances for the company.

Here are some statistics:

  • According to Forbes, “Workplace stress is responsible for up to $190B in annual U.S. healthcare costs and more than two-thirds of U.S. employers currently offer wellness programs.”
  • Stress has been called the “health epidemic of the 21st century” by the World Health Organization and is estimated to cost American businesses up to $300 billion a year.
  • Margaret Hodge, Ed.D., R.N. and colleagues note that stress at work can “result in increased anxiety and depression, as well as other health-related concerns.” A 1996 study conducted by Shulman and Jones of the Touch Research Institute in Miami, Florida, found that massage in the workplace helped reduce anxiety. The study indicated that 15 minutes of chair massage was more effective than a 15-minute break to reduce anxiety.
  • Companies that invest into creating a healthy work culture have greatly benefited with improved job performance as healthy employees tend to be happier and more productive employees. By providing workers with these services, companies are improving well-being and job satisfaction, as well as raising retention rates.

With tax incentives and grants available under recent federal health care legislation, U.S. companies can use wellness programs to chip away at their enormous health care costs, which are only rising with an aging workforce.

This is why I created “Health Break”, because I want to support companies by integrating wellness into the workplace. The focus of this wellness program is to keep staff healthy, while implementing new strategies to keep staff naturally focused and motivated at their job.

This program is customized to the needs of each business and can include (but is not limited to):

  •  Maximize Your Energy sessions
  •  Manage Your Stress
  •  Increase Productivity & Focus

  •  Access to online resources

This program is not for every company; it is for those who are committed and want to create a healthy work culture for their staff.
